Dear Patients of Highlands Family Dentistry:
In response to the current COVID-19 situation the Provincial Health Officer and the College of Dental Surgeons of BC have suspended all dental office treatment in the province, advising that the only dental treatment to be provided at this time is for true dental emergencies.
At this time, Dr. Gagner is not seeing ANY patients, emergency or otherwise, until March 23, 2020. After March 23, Dr. Gagner will only be seeing dental emergencies until further notice.
If you have a true dental emergency due to trauma, uncontrolled bleeding or uncontrollable pain, please phone Dr. Gagner personally at 250-215-2451 for direction.
Please be advised that any patient with a true dental emergency who is also exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness may be referred by Dr. Gagner to Kelowna General Hospital Emergency Department.
If you have a scheduled appointment we will be phoning you in the coming days to reschedule that appointment. Please do not phone the office with general questions or to inquire about when your appointment will be rescheduled.
Please also be aware that we will be re-booking patients in triage fashion, meaning that those with more essential dental needs that have the potential to become emergent will be given priority bookings once normal dental treatment activity resumes.
I am attaching here an updated informational PDF sent out by the BC Dental Association to answer other questions surrounding COVID-19 and dentistry. It is a helpful document and may give further clarity to questions you may have.
Lastly, I want to thank each and every one of you for your patience and understanding we navigate through making safe, efficient decisions for patient care going forward.
Dr. Shane Gagner
